Pet Urns in Dubai: what to know
Engraving is where most urn orders in Dubai slow down. A plain urn can often be collected or shipped quickly; a name, dates, a photo or a paw print adds a proof, a production step and sometimes weeks. If you have a date in mind, such as a memorial gathering, tell the seller before you order and ask for the making and shipping times separately.
Most families in Dubai buy their pet's urn from one of three places: the crematory that handled the cremation, an online seller or a local maker. Each has its strengths. The crematory's urns are sized to the ashes it returns; online shops offer the widest range; a local potter or woodworker can make something no one else has. Our city pages cover what's typical in each place.

Keeping ashes at home: the local attitude
Local traditions around death differ, and so do opinions on keeping ashes at home. For pets, the choice is personal and there are no rules about how long the ashes can stay in their temporary container. Choose an urn when you feel ready, sized from your pet's weight, and don't let anyone rush you into a style you haven't really looked at.
What families in Dubai typically pay for an urn
Local urn prices for the United Arab Emirates aren't something we can source yet. What does travel across borders is the relative cost of materials and extras: marble costs about three times as much as ceramic[1], and simple name engraving adds $15–$25[2] on a US urn (per one large retailer). Use those proportions to judge a quote in Dubai.
We don't have published pet urn prices for the United Arab Emirates that we can cite, so rather than guess, here are sourced US ranges for comparison. Ceramic pet urns typically cost $20–$100[3] and wooden ones $30–$150[4] (per one large retailer). Local prices in Dubai may be quite different, especially for imported urns, so ask for a written total including delivery.
| Urn | Typical price | Worth knowing |

Pet ashes and the law in Dubai
Pet ashes are sterile, mineral remains, so the rules around them are lighter than for burying a body. Still, a few things are worth checking before you scatter or bury: who owns the land, whether a park or beach has its own policy and, if you'll bury an urn, whether it's biodegradable. Here's what applies in Dubai.
In the UAE, pets can't be buried, and municipal disposal is mass cremation with no ashes returned[7]. If you'd like your pet's ashes back, you'll need a private cremation provider, and an urn at home becomes the main way to keep them. Importing an urn can add customs charges and time, so ask the provider what they stock locally.
A simple plan for the urn decision
- Leave the temporary container sealed until the urn has arrived and you've checked it.
- Read how the urn opens. Many wooden urns open from the base with small screws; many metal ones have a threaded lid.
- Lay out a towel or tray across a table, with a funnel or spoon within reach should the bag need decanting.
- Place the sealed bag inside and fold the top over. Only open the bag if it truly won't fit.
- Close and secure the urn; on a threaded lid, a touch of glue keeps children and other pets from working it loose.
- Recycle or keep the temporary box; plenty of people store it alongside the paperwork, since it's part of the story.
Ways to remember your pet at home
The urn can keep changing after day one. Some families add a second plate a year later with a line they couldn't write at first, or a photo from a last good summer. If you think you might, choose an urn with a flat face or a recessed panel where a plate can be fixed without drilling. If you'd like a print of a paw as well, the paw print kit chooser compares ink, clay and casting kits.

Questions people ask
How can our family share a pet's ashes across Dubai?
Set aside small shares before filling the main urn and give each person a matching keepsake. The ashes sharing planner shows how much each share can hold. Keepsake or mini urns typically cost $15–$60[6] in the US (per one large retailer), and sets are cheaper per piece.
Do crematories in Dubai sell urns?
Almost all do, and many include a basic urn or box in their private cremation package. Their range is usually modest but sized to the ashes they return. You're free to decline it and buy elsewhere; the ashes are safe in the temporary container until your urn arrives.
How many communities do you cover in Dubai?
We currently have local pet urn guides for 2 communities in Dubai, including Dubai and Emirates Hills. Each page covers local price ranges, delivery and engraving timing, climate tips for indoor and outdoor urns, and the basic rules for scattering and burial.
Where can I scatter my pet's ashes in Dubai?
Private land with the owner's permission is the simplest choice. Parks, beaches and waterways often have their own rules, and some ask you to request permission first. Pick a quiet spot away from paths and water intakes, scatter close to the ground and downwind, and consider keeping a little back in a keepsake.
Can I send my pet's ashes to family in another part of Dubai?
It depends on the carrier. In the US, only the Postal Service accepts cremated remains, by Priority Mail Express with a special label; some other countries' postal services refuse them. Sending an empty keepsake urn is easy. Many families carry the ashes themselves and pass them on in person.
Do I need permission to keep my pet's ashes at home in Dubai?
No permission is needed to keep a pet's ashes indoors, and there's no time limit on how long they stay there. Permission only becomes a question if you want to scatter or bury them somewhere you don't own, like public parkland, a shoreline or a cemetery, where the landowner or managing authority decides.
