How Virginia thinks about cremation and urns

As a general guide, private land with the owner's permission is simplest; parks, beaches and waterways often have their own rules, and some ask you to request permission first.

Will I have to travel to Arlington to arrange things?
Not usually. Providers based in Arlington (roughly 6 miles from Alexandria) collect from here as a matter of routine, and the paperwork is done by email or phone. If you want to be present for a witnessed cremation, that is when the drive matters.
