How France thinks about cremation and urns
In France, about 44.91%[1] of people are cremated, lower than in many places. That shows in the urn market: local crematories may offer a smaller range, and fewer shops stock memorial pieces. The upside is that online makers deliver almost everywhere. If you'd like to see something before buying, ask the crematory whether they have samples you can handle.

Water is the place families ask about most. Scattering on a lake, a river or the sea feels natural to many people, but local authorities and park managers can have their own requirements, and some ask that only water-soluble urns are used. Check your airline's rules too, especially for international flights.

A shelf in a room you use daily, shaded from strong sunlight, with no radiator, heater or steamy kitchen or bathroom close by. Put it high enough that pets and small children can't knock it down, on a surface that doesn't wobble. Many families choose a spot they pass every day; others prefer somewhere private, like a bedroom. Either is right if it feels right to you.
