Pet Urns in North Brabant: what to know
Families in North Brabant are often spread across several cities, and that makes sharing ashes a common question. A set of matching keepsake urns lets a sibling or grown child in another town keep a portion. Handing them over in person is simplest; posting ashes comes with rules that vary by country and carrier. Our city pages cover the local details.
Most families in North Brabant buy their pet's urn from one of three places: the crematory that handled the cremation, an online seller or a local maker. Each has its strengths. The crematory's urns are sized to the ashes it returns; online shops offer the widest range; a local potter or woodworker can make something no one else has. Our city pages cover what's typical in each place.

Cremation in North Brabant, and what it means for urns
Cremation is common but not universal in North Brabant, where about 68.37%[1] of people are cremated. Pet crematories here usually sell a solid core range of urns rather than a huge catalog, so families who want something unusual, like a figurine or a marble urn, often buy online. The local range is still worth seeing first, since those urns are chosen to fit the ashes that crematory returns.
We take the North Brabant percentage from Cremation Society of Great Britain, International Cremation Statistics 2023 (2023). It refers to people; attitudes to cremating a pet tend to follow it.
How much to budget for an urn
In much of Europe, the pet crematorium is also the main urn seller, and it usually offers a small range with the cremation. Published European urn prices are scarce, so the table below shows sourced UK and US figures for comparison rather than local ones. Relative prices hold up across markets: marble tends to cost about three times as much as ceramic[2].
Prices for pet urns in the Netherlands vary by maker and material, and we don't yet have a local source we can cite. Rather than an invented range, here's a useful rule from published lists elsewhere: engraving on a mid-priced wooden urn can add about a third to its price[3], so always ask whether the price quoted in North Brabant includes personalization.

What North Brabant allows with pet ashes
Water is the place families ask about most. Scattering on a lake, a river or the sea feels natural to many people, but local authorities and park managers can have their own requirements, and some ask that only water-soluble urns are used. The general notes for North Brabant follow; whoever manages that stretch of water has the final say.
In the Netherlands, pet crematoria (dierencrematoria) usually offer urns with the cremation, and some let you stay while it happens and take the ashes home the same day in an urn you've chosen. Urns are sized in litres. Scattering on your own land is common, and many families keep a little back in a keepsake.
How to get from ashes to urn
- Tell your child the ashes are coming home and what they'll look like: a sealed bag in a plain box or tin.
- Let them help choose, from two or three urns you've already checked for size and price.
- Offer a small keepsake of their own for their room, while the main urn stays in a shared space.
- Invite them to add something, perhaps a picture they drew or a few words, slipped beneath the urn.
- Pick a lid that screws or locks shut, above all where a young child could reach the urn.
- Mark the day the urn arrives by doing something small as a family: a candle, a favorite memory shared out loud.
Ways to remember your pet at home
Children often want something of their own to hold. A small keepsake urn on a bedside table, or a soft photo cushion, can help a child in North Brabant feel included without keeping the main urn in their room. Let them help choose it, or write something to go inside the urn's base.

Questions people ask
Can I bury my pet's urn at home in North Brabant?
Burying ashes on land you own is generally allowed and much simpler than burying a body. Renters need the landlord's agreement, and homeowners' associations can be stricter. A biodegradable urn returns to the soil; a sealed wooden or metal urn lasts much longer. If you might move, keep a portion indoors.
What size urn does my pet need?
Allow about one cubic inch of urn space for every pound of your pet's healthy weight, plus about 10% to close the lid comfortably. A 12 lb cat needs about 12 cubic inches; a 70 lb dog about 70[8]. The urn size calculator works it out in cubic inches and millilitres.
Can an urn be buried in a pet cemetery in North Brabant?
Many pet cemeteries accept urns, and burying ashes usually costs far less than a full burial, since the plot can be smaller. Some cemeteries ask for a particular type of urn or vault, and many charge yearly upkeep. Ask about both before buying, and choose a durable or biodegradable urn to suit their rules.
How long does an engraved pet urn take to arrive in North Brabant?
It depends on the seller and the work. Simple laser engraving can be quick; photo engraving, figurines and custom ceramics can take several weeks, and deliveries to rural areas take longer. Ask for the making and shipping times separately and add a margin if a date matters.
How much does a pet urn cost in North Brabant?
Prices depend on material, size and personalization, and local price lists vary. Where we have sourced figures, they're on each city page; for example, one UK crematorium lists pet ashes caskets at £61–£151[4]. Ask any seller for a written price that includes engraving and delivery.
Should I choose the urn before or after the cremation?
Either works. Choosing before means the ashes can come home already in the urn; choosing after gives you time and lets you size it to the actual ashes. Most families in North Brabant choose after, keeping the ashes in the temporary container for a few weeks while they decide.
