How do Switzerland attitudes to cremation compare?
bestatter.ch (Swiss funeral services association) (2020) puts the Switzerland human cremation rate at about 90%[1]. We show it on the Lucerne page because pet aftercare choices tend to track it: where cremation is normal for people, communal and private pet cremation are both easy to find.
Can a provider from a neighbouring town collect from Lucerne?
Usually yes. Kusnacht is about 23 miles away, Zollikon is about 24 miles away and Zurich is about 25 miles away, all inside a normal collection radius. Get the mileage written into the quote so there is no surprise on the day.
Will I have to travel to Zurich to arrange things?
Not usually. Providers based in Zurich (roughly 25 miles from Lucerne) collect from here as a matter of routine, and the paperwork is done by email or phone. If you want to be present for a witnessed cremation, that is when the drive matters.
Can the crematory send the urn straight to our home near Lucerne?
Many can, though some prefer to return ashes through the vet clinic. Ask when you arrange the cremation. If they ship it, ask how the ashes will be packed, which carrier they use and whether a signature is needed. For a heavy stone urn, collecting it from the clinic may be simpler than waiting for a rural delivery.
Do pet crematories near Lucerne sell urns?
